EFEKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK DAUN MIANA TERHADAP BAKTERI Porphyromonas gingivalis
Introduction: Gingivitis is an inflammatory condition that involves the soft tissue around the teeth (gingiva). The main factor causing gingivitis in children and adolescents is the accumulation of bacterial deposits on the teeth and gingival sulcus. One of the bacteria that cause gingivitis is the bacterium Porphyromonas gingivalis. Chlorhexidine is commonly used as the gold standard for preventing gingivitis, but it can cause side effects such as brown discoloration of teeth, impaired taste, and irrtitaion of mucosa. Miana leaves are natural ingredients that are often used as alternative medicines due to their antibacterial effects because they contain flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, saponins, and essential oils. This study aims to determine the antibacterial effectiveness of miana leaf extract against Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteria. Material & Methods: The study used miana leaves for laboratory experimental research. There were five treatment groups consisting of 20%, 40%, and 60% concentration of miana leaf extract. 0.2% chlorhexidine as a positive control, and aquadest as a negative control. The inhibition zone test was carried out using the disc diffusion method and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) tests using the solid dilution method. Result: There was a significant difference between all treatment groups (p
