River water can contain various heavy metals, one of which is Mn. This research aims to determine the distribution and concentration levels of Mn in Gasing River water using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method. Additionally, it aims to assess the impact of several parameters, namely temperature, depth, flow rate, pH, and dissolved oxygen (DO). The study commenced with water sampling at seven points: Muara Sebalik, Muara Kenten, PT Sutopo, Tengah Sungai Gasing, Jembatan Gasing Tengah, Jembatan Desa Kenten, and Hulu Sungai Gasing. Standard solutions were prepared at concentrations of 0.1 mg/L, 0.3 mg/L, 1 mg/L, 0.5 mg/L, 1 mg/L, and 1.5 mg/L. The determination of Mn levels in Gasing River water was conducted using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method. The research findings indicate linearity with a linear regression equation of y = 0.0683x + 0.0022 and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.9991. The Limit of Detection (LOD) was found to be 1.37 mg/L, and the Limit of Quantification (LOQ) was 4.51 mg/L. Among the influencing parameters, temperature had a significant effect, while depth, flow rate, pH, and dissolved oxygen showed less influence. The measured concentration of Mn in Gasing River water samples ranged from 0.06 mg/L to 0.23 mg/L. The distribution of heavy metal ion Mn from the upstream to downstream of Gasing River exhibited a fluctuating trend. Future researchers are encouraged to analyze data with other parameters such as specificity, precision, accuracy, and others. Additionally, water quality analysis incorporating parameters like Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and others is deemed necessary.
