PENGARUH EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN ALPUKAT (PERSEA AMERICANA MILL.) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN BAKTERI STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS
Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most commonly exposed bacteria and causes infection in humans. Efforts that can be made in medicine are using antibiotics. The use of antibiotics has recently been irrational and has led to antibiotic resistance. Efforts that can be made to prevent resistance are using alternative medicine. Alternative medicine that can be used is plants. Avocado leaves are hermal plants that can be used as antibacterial because they contain flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and steroids. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of avocado leaf ethanol extract (Persea americana Mill.) on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This study is an in vitro laboratory experimental study. The test group used avocado leaf ethanol extract with concentrations of 4000 µg/ml, 2000 µg/ml, 1000 µg/ml, 500 µg/ml, and 250 µg/ml obtained through maceration method, with amoxicillin as a positive control and DMSO as a negative control. Antibacterial activity testing of avocado leaf extract was carried out by disc diffusion method to determine the value of the inhibitory zone and minimum inhibitory concentration (KHM). The results of the inhibitory zone value were then analyzed statistically using the one way ANOVA test and post hoc Games-Howell. The results of this study showed avocado leaf ethanol extract concentration of 2000 µg/ml showed the greatest average value of inhibitory pzona mm but still lower than amoxicillin positive contral. The results of the KHM test of avocado leaf ethanol extract obtained how much KHM at a concentration of 250 µg/ml. Avocado leaf ethanol extract has an effect on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria
