HUBUNGAN PEMAKAIAN SEPATU HAK TINGGI DAN LAMA BERDIRI TERHADAP KEJADIAN NYERI OTOT BETIS PADA KARYAWATI BANK DI KOTA PALEMBANG
Background: Calf Muscle pain is one of the muscle pains that many people complain about. Some causes of calf muscle pain include wearing high heels and standing for too long that causing the calf muscles contracting continuously without the opportunity to relax. This study aims to determine the relationship between wearing high heels and standing duration on the occurrence of calf muscle pain in bank employees in Palembang. Method: This research is an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design. Two bank were selected as research sites using multistage random sampling techniques. The research sample was 83 bank employees who met predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data was obtained by filling out questionnaire and measuring shoe heel height and then processed using univariate and bivariate analysis. Results: There are 64 out of 83 female employees experiencing calf muscle pain. The age group that most often complains of calf muscle pain is 26-35 years old (34,9%). Female bank employees who wear shoes with heels ≥5 cm and stand for ≥50 of the time dominate the incidence of calf muscle pain with percentage of 61,4% and 50,6%. There is a significant relationship between wearing high heels (p=0,040) and standing duration (p=0,002) on the incidence of calf muscle pain in bank employees in Palembang. Conclusion: The prevalence of calf muscle pain in this study was 77,1% and there was a significant relationship between wearing high heels and standing duration on the occurrence of calf muscle pain in bank employees in Palembang.
