Introduction: Short children is defined as a height that is more than two standard deviations below the mean height for age and sex. This can be caused by various factors such as malnutrition, genetic disorders, chronic diseases, and infections. The prevalence of stunting under five (TB/U) in South Sumatra is 31.6%. Potential factors that influence the incidence of stunted children include socio-economics, family, exclusive breastfeeding, history of birth weight of the baby, age at complementary feeding, and family education level, and food consumption also influences the incidence of short stature in toddlers. Method: The research design used was observational analytics with a cross- sectional approach. There were 72 mothers who attended Posyandu Nusa Indah Gandus bringing toddlers in the age range 0–59 months. The sample that met the inclusion criteria was only 55 respondents. The data obtained were primary data in the form of direct anthropometric examinations of toddlers and questionnaires to mothers of toddlers, then analyzed using the 22nd edition of the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software. Result: The respondents involved were mostly male (63%), the majority aged 24– 59 months (61.1%), the frequency of visits to posyandu was categorized as non- routine (74.1%) and immunization status was also assessed as incomplete (59.3%). There is a relationship between early initiation of breastfeeding (IMD) and the incidence of stunted children (p = 0.046). However, there was no relationship between exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.631), history of birth weight (p = 0.508), complementary feeding (p = 0.653), and history of maternal education level (p = 0.523) with the incidence of short children. Conclusion: The risk factor that influences the incidence of stunted children in the Gandus health center working area is Early Breastfeeding Initiation.
