This research is a descriptive study which aims to determine the ability to mathematical thinking aspect simbolization of the grade of the sysem of twovariable kinear equations material in mathematics through probing prompting strategies. The subjects of this study were VIII.1 grade students of junior high school number 33 of Palembang totaling 30 students. The learning process take place in accordance with the steps of strategies probing prompting. data were collected using tests and interviews and anlyzad descrptively. The results of this study are students of class VIII.1 Palembang 33 State Junior High School have shown mathematical thinking aspects of symbolization through the appearance of the indicators and the most indicators are symbol manipulation.
