IDENTIFIKASI KELIMPAHAN MIKROPLASTIK PADA UDANG JERBUNG (PENAEUS MERGUIENSIS) DAN UDANG VANNAMEI (LITOPENAEUS VANNAMEI) HASIL TANGKAPAN NELAYAN SUNGSANG, KABUPATEN BANYUASIN SUMATERA SELATAN
Microplastics are a form of plastic waste that is very difficult to detect because they are very small and easily dispersed in the ocean. The danger of microplastic contamination to biota can cause physical damage, reduce growth rates and tend to be toxic. This study aims to analyse the abundance of microplastics, identify type of microplastics in shrimp Penaeus merguiensis and Litopenaeus vannamei. This study was conducted from August to November 2023. Shrimp samples were obtained from collectors around Sungsang Waters, Banyuasin Regency. Identification of microplastic types using Olympus CX33 microscope, microplastic measurement using Image J software and identification of microplastic polymer types using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) tool. The average abundance of microplastics in Penaeus merguiensis shrimp was 0.28 particles/gram while in Litopenaeus vannamei shrimp was 0.49 particles/gram. There are three types of microplastics found in this study, namely fragments, films and fibres. The types of microplastic polymers obtained in this study are Polyalkenes and Polybutadiene.
