SKRINING AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN DAN TOKSISITAS SENYAWA AKTIF PADA TERIPANG HITAM (Holothuria atra) DAN BINTANG LAUT BERDURI (Acanthaster planci) YANG BERASAL DARI PULAU ENGGANO
The Black Sea Cucumber (Holothuria atra) and the Crown of Thorns Starfish (Acanthaster planci) from Enggano Island are marine organisms that have secondary metabolite compounds potentially exhibiting antioxidant activity and toxicity. This research explores the antioxidant activity and toxicity potential of these two Echinodermata species, H. atra and A. planci. The DPPH method is used to determine antioxidant activity based on IC50 values, while the BSLT method was used to evaluate toxicity based on LC50. Samples are collected through purposive random sampling, followed by the process of sample preparation, maseration, and extraction of active compounds. Qualitative phytochemical analysis and GC-MS are performed to identify the active compounds. The results showed that both species had weak antioxidant activity, with H. atra having an IC50 of 1026 ppm and A. planci having an IC50 of 1083 ppm. However, both show significant toxicity categories, with H. atra having LC50 of 288 ppm and A. planci having 209 ppm. Phytochemical analyses revealed the presence of steroids in H. atra and triterpenoids as well as flavonoids in A. Planci. In addition, analysis of GC-MS found the dominance of bioactive compounds in the form of esters and fatty acids, which have pharmacological potential such as antioxidant, anti-cancer, antiinflammatory, and antimicrobial. This research provides additional insight into the potential use of Black Sea Cucumber and Crown of Thorns as a source of bioactive compounds with significant pharmacological activity.
