PERBANDINGAN KELIMPAHAN MIKROPLASTIK DI MUARA SUNGAI KONG DAN PERAIRAN PULAU MASPARI, KABUPATEN OKI, SUMATERA SELATAN
One source of marine pollution that is often found is plastic waste. Plastic waste thrown away in coastal areas can be carried by ocean dynamics such as strong currents and settle in important coastal ecosystems such as mangroves, seagrass and coral reefs. Plastic waste that is degraded over a long time will turn into microplastics. Microplastics can accumulate in marine biota through various organs found in that biota and will reach humans through the food chain. This research aims to analyze the types, types and abundance of microplastics in waters. This research was carried out in July 2023 in the waters of the Kong River Estuary and the waters of Maspari Island. Identify types of microplastics using a binocular microscope. The results of this research showed four types of microplastics, namely fragments, fibers, films and pellets. The average abundance of microplastics in the waters of the Kong River Estuary are 6.23 particles/L and the waters of Maspari Island are 5.15 particles/L.
