UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIDEPRESAN EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN CEMPEDAK (Artocarpus champeden) TERHADAP MENCIT (Mus musculus)
Cempedak (Artocarpus champeden) leaves contain flavonoids that are efficacious as antioxidants which are thought to have potential as antidepressant activity. This study aims to determine the effect of cempedak leaf ethanol extract as an antidepressant and find out the best concentration of cempedak leaf ethanol extract as an antidepressant. Parameters observed included length of fall, immobility time, line crossings, weight changes, and sucrose consumption. The rats were divided into 6 groups namely, normal group (NaCMC 1% without acute stress induction), negative group (NaCMC 1% with acute stress induction), positive group (fluoxetine 20 mg/kg BW), and treatment group I, II, and III (ethanol extract cempedak leaves with doses of 100, 200, 400 mg/kg BW, respectively). Antidepressant testing of each group was carried out for 35 days. Measurement of traction test, tail suspension test, forced swimming test, and locomotor parameters was carried out on days 1, 7, and 14, while weight measurement was carried out on days 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, and measurement of the amount of sucrose. The results showed ethanol extract of cempedak leaves had antidepressant activity in mice induced by acute stress, compared to negative controls (p
