This study aims to describe the form and meaning of deixis in the novel Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala and its utilization as instructional material in Indonesian language and literature learning in high school. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. The data for this research are sentences in the dialogue of the novel Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala. The methods and techniques for providing data were carried out using observation and note-taking techniques. Data analysis using interactive analytics. This research uses the theory of the form and meaning of the deixis of Yule and Purwo. The results showed that 239 deixis were classified into 167 person deixis, 25 space/place deixis, and 47 time deixis. The deixis are found to have meaning according to formal or informal conversation situations. Deixis fundamentally influences speech events, such as making speech more effective, saving words, and making speech more varied. The results of this research have implications for Indonesian language learning in high school by referring to the Merdeka curriculum. The implications of this research are in Phase E, Class X, negotiation text material in Cerdas Cergas Berbahasa dan Bersastra Indonesia book's SMA/SMK, Class X and Phase F, Class XII, narration text material in Bahasa Indonesia Tingkat Lanjut Cakap Berbahasa dan Bersastra Indonesia book's Class XII. The research implications use reading, viewing, speaking, and presenting elements.
