PENGETAHUAN DAN PERILAKU CAREGIVER MENGENAI DERMATITIS POPOK DAN PERAWATAN KULIT AREA POPOK PADA BAYI DAN BATITA DI PUSKESMAS SEKIP PALEMBANG
Background. Diaper dermatitis (DD) or diaper rash is irritation in response to an inflammatory reaction on the skin around the buttocks, the perineal and perianal areas which are covered by cloth or plastic diapers, which causes the buttocks area to become warm and moist. This condition encourages the growth of bacteria and fungi, which can increase skin irritation from urine and feces. Caregivers are guardians of babies or toddlers who provide direct care. Knowledge and behavior regarding diaper management were found to be significant predictors of diaper dermatitis. Methods. Observational decriptive research with a cross-sectional design to determine the knowledge and behavior of caregivers regarding diaper dermatitis and skin care in the diaper area in babies and toddlers at the Sekip Palembang Health Center. The research was conducted using 86 primary data by collecting answers from questionnaires. The data was processed using the chi-square method in SPSS version 22 program then described and analyzed. Results. Babies’ and toddlers’ caregivers in Sekip Palembang Health Centers in this research were 98.8% female caregivers, 22.1% >55 years old caregivers, 49% parents caregivers, 59.3% of caregivers had an educational level equivalent to high school, 75.6% housewives caregivers. There were 50% of caregivers who had poor knowledge and there were still errors in implementing behavior, especially on their type of diaper preferences, p=0.010 (
