KEPENTINGAN NASIONAL AUSTRALIA DALAM KEBIJAKAN PENGHENTIAN PENERIMAAN PENGUNGSI TAHUN 2013-2015
More and more people are choosing to leave their home countries due to various challenges. Australia has a long history of welcoming refugees, but it has recently taken action to change its policy. Australia has made a policy to limit incoming refugees. The aim of this research is to explain the reasons of national interest that motivated Australia to make a policy to stop accepting refugees. The theoretical framework used in this research is national interests. This research uses library research. This thesis uses qualitative methods using secondary data. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained from books, journals and official websites. The research results show that the national interest theory, which includes aspects of protecting physical, political and cultural identity, has an impact on Australia's policy to stop accepting refugees. In this regard, controlling immigration laws, especially those relating to refugees, is in Australia's national interest. Australia has an interest in the refugee policy.
