SINTESIS CaO dan CaO/SDS DARI CANGKANG TELUR AYAM UNTUK MENGADSORPSI ZAT WARNA CONGO RED
ABSTRACT : The use of many chicken eggs results in chicken egg shell waste increasing rapidly. Chicken egg shells are the main material used for the synthesis of CaO and CaO/SDS composites. Synthesised CaO and CaO/SDS composite were used as adsorbents in the absorption of congo red dye with variations in contact time, concentration and temperature and then characterized using XRD, FTIR and BET. The XRD characterization results showed the highest intensity of CaO at the angle 2θ = 37.3079 and the CaO/SDS composite at the angle 2θ = 37.3203. The BET characterization results showed CaO surface area of 9.876 m2 /g and a CaO/SDS composite of 15.147 m2 /g. The FTIR characterization results showed the presence of Ca-O functional groups at 709.3-973.3 cm-1 , C-N groups, N=N groups and NH groups at 1595.2-1610.2 cm-1 , after adsorption new absorption appears in the form of S-O group at 1177.8 cm-1 . The optimum conditions for CaO were at contact time of 20 minutes with concentration of 125 mg/L and temperature of 60 ºC, while for CaO/SDS at contact time of 30 minutes with concentration of 225 mg/L and temperature of 70 ºC. This research is well described by pseudo second order adsorption kinetics, Langmuir adsorption isotherm which are endothermic and occur non-spontaneously. Keywords : Chicken egg shell, CaO, CaO/SDS, Congo Red and Adsorption.
