PENGUJIAN KINERJA MEMBRANE ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY (MEA) DENGAN KATALIS Pt/C PADA PEMFC DENGAN LAJU ALIR GAS HIDROGEN BERVARIASI
Performance Testing of Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) with Pt/C Catalyst on PEMFC with Varying Hydrogen Gas Flow Rates has been carried out. MEA was made using a commercial Pt/C catalyst on the cathode combined with a synthetic Pt/C catalyst on the anode and sandwiching a Nafion 212 electrolyte membrane. Tests were carried out with varying hydrogen gas flow rates of 100, 200, 300, and 400 mL/minute. MEA was characterized using XRay Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) methods. MEA performance testing was carried out using WonAtech Smart-2. Based on the XRD characterization results, it was found that 2θ = 18.50° was a PTFE peak, 2θ = 26.98° was a carbon peak, 2θ = 44.70° was a platinum peak, and 2θ = 55.07° was a granite peak. The results of characterization using SEM-EDX showed that the carbon percentage was 95.117%, fluoride was 2.499%, and platinum was 0.787%, and the average electrode thickness was 237.318 μm. The ECSA value for the electrode using a synthetic Pt/C catalyst was found to be 0.862 m2 /mg, while the ECSA value for the electrode using a commercial Pt/C catalyst was 1.133 m2 /mg. The electrical conductivity value obtained for the synthetic Pt/C electrode was 5.589×10-3 S/cm, while for the commercial Pt/C electrode the electrical conductivity value was 10.48×10-3 S/cm. The best MEA performance was obtained at a hydrogen gas flow rate of 300 mL/minute, producing an optimum power density of 2.732 mW/cm2.
