Background: Medical waste takes up a fairly large portion of the total waste on earth, where dental waste is in the form of hazardous and infectious materials. Some materials produced from dental practices, such as mercury from amalgam and various other chemicals, have the potential to harm humans and the environment. The Eco-Dentistry Association (EDA) has developed the Green Dentistry model of environmentally friendly dentistry and has 4 principles (Rethink, Reuse, Reduce, Recycle) that are environmentally conscious and health-based. These new emerging concepts in dentistry can reduce the environmental impact of dental practices in moving towards a sustainable healthcare system. From an architectural perspective, it can also be related to protecting the environment by implementing green buildings in dentist practice rooms. This movement is an effort by architects/developers to be wiser in managing buildings and the environment. This research aims to determine the application of Green Dentistry principles and green buildings in independent dental practice rooms in the city of Palembang. Method: This research uses a descriptive research design with a quantitative approach using survey methods. Results: The application of the rethink principle obtained a percentage of 43.9%, the reduce principle obtained the highest application percentage, namely 70.7%, the reuse principle obtained an application percentage of 68.3%, the recycle principle obtained an application percentage of 65.9%, while the green building criteria obtained the lowest implementation percentage was 24.4%. Conclusion: The overall results obtained can be concluded that the application of green dentistry principles in independent dental practice rooms in the city of Palembang has been implemented with a percentage of 85.4%.
