STUDI SISTEM DISPERSI PADAT ASAM MEFENAMAT DENGAN KOMBINASI KITOSAN DAN NA-ALGINAT SECARA BEAD MILLING DENGAN VARIASI JUMLAH KITOSAN
Mefenamic acid is a drug included in the biopharmaceutical classification system (BCS) class II so it is difficult to dissolve water which is overcome by making it into a solid dispersion. The combination of chitosan and sodium alginate is used as a carrier substance in solid dispersion. This study aims to determine the effect of chitosan and sodium alginate as a carrier on the dissolution rate of mefenamic acid solid dispersion. The bead milling method was chosen because it is easy to work with, affordable, and environmentally friendly. Three mefenamic acid solid dispersion formulations were made with varying amounts of chitosan. Evaluation and characterization of mefenamic acid solid dispersion samples were conducted through XRD, FTIR, SEM, solubility test, and dissolution test. The test results showed a decrease in the crystalline degree of mefenamic acid, no formation of new functional groups, changes in the morphology of the solid dispersion, solubility of the solid dispersion in the SIF solution, and an increase in the dissolution rate of mefenamic acid in the solid dispersion. Based on the test results, it can be concluded that the preparation of mefenamic acid solid dispersion by bead milling method can increase the solubility and dissolution rate of mefenamic acid.
