UJI EFEKTIVITAS EKSTRAK DAUN SUNGKAI (Peronema canescens Jack) SEBAGAI BIOINSEKTISIDA BELALANG KEMBARA (Locusta migratoria manilensis Meyen)
The grasshopper has a tendency to eat plant leaves, causing physical damage such as tears in the leaves, and can even cause the loss of all leaves. One way to deal with the presence of locusts is by using sungkai leaf bioinsecticide (Peronema canescens) which contains poison for locusts. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of sungkai leaf extract and the optimal concentration in dealing with locust pests. The research was conducted at the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory, and Animal Biosystematics Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University, October to December 2023. Using a complete randomized design with the treatment of sungkai leaf extract, namely 0.1%, 0.5%, 0.9%, 1.3% and positive control fipronil 1% and negative control distilled water. Parameters observed were behavior, morphology and mortality. Data analysis used linear regression, ANOVA and Duncan's further test. The results showed that sungkai leaf extract had an effect on grasshoppers on changes in behavior, morphology, and mortality. The effective concentration is 0.1% concentration at 24 hour where at a concentration of 0.1% sungkai leaf extract can kill 55% of test animals that are toxic. Sungkai leaf extract contains secondary metabolite compounds in the form of tannins, streoids, terpenoids, alkaloids, saponins, phenols and flavonoids that are toxic to locusts.
