Background: Low Back Pain is a musculoskeletal problem that affects at least 80 percent of world's population at some point in their lifetime. LBP is considered a symptom in the form of pain located in the lower back under the rib cage area. Online motorcycle taxi drivers are one of many populations at risk of developing LBP. Riding habits are theorized to be a risk factor for LBP. Working duration and working period have also been theorized to have an influence on developing LBP. Other potential risk factors such as age, gender, BMI, and smoking have been debated for their influence on LBP. This study aims to analyze the potential risk factors of LBP on online motorcycle taxi drivers based on six variables: age, gender, BMI, smoking, working duration, and working period. Methods: This study is an analytic observational study with cross-sectional design conducted in the Physiology Center of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sriwijaya from August to November 2023. This study has a minimum sample size of 55 respondents in Palembang City who passed the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Samples were taken with purposive sampling technique using a questionnaire, which was filed out by the researcher through interviews. The data obtained were processed and analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results: A total of 35 drivers (57.4 percent) with LBP were obtained out of 61 total respondents. The respondents have a mean age of 30.9 years and a mean BMI of 22.8. The majority of respondents were male (80.3 percent), had BMI less than 25 kg/m2 (73.8 percent), were non-smokers (54.1 percent), had working duration more than or equal to 7 hours (81.9 percent), and had a working period less than 4 years (59 percent). Bivariate analysis shows significant relationships between BMI, more than or equal to 25 kg/m2 (p = 0.025) and working duration more than or equal to 7 hours (p = 0.042) with LBP. Conclusion: BMI more than or equal to 25 kg/m2 and prolonged working duration have significant relationships with LBP.
