PROFIL PASIEN CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME (CTS) DI DEPARTEMEN NEUROLOGI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is the most common nervous compression of the upper extremity. CTS can result from the high exposure of vibration and high pressure on the wrist area. Neuropathic factors such as diabetes, alcohol use, vitamin toxicity, deficiency of toxins and exposure to toxins may aggravate the symptoms of CTS. This research is done to provide more valuable informations for further preventive actions in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Methods. This research is a descriptive observational study to provide informations about the profile of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) patients at Neurology Department of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Primary data processed by univariate analysis is being used in this research. Results. Among 12 of the subjects in this research, most CTS patients are aged between 45-60 years old (100%), housewife (50%), in the overweight category (75%), wrist ratio >0,7 (58,3%), positive and negative sensory symptoms (58,3%), ENMG results at first degree (58,3%), bilateral (66,6%), hypertension (58,3%), do not have diabetes mellitus type 2 (75%), mild depression (58,3%). Conclusion. After the research is done, profile of CTS patients mostly found are aged between 45-60 years old, occupation as a housewife, waist-to-height ratio in the overweight category, have a wrist ratio >0,7, have both positive and negative sensory symptoms, ENMG results at first degree, have CTS on bilateral sides, have hypertension, do not have diabetes mellitus type 2, have mild depression.
