IDENTIFIKASI GEN DosT SEBAGAI FAKTOR VIRULENSI PENYEBAB TB YANG DIISOLASI DARI SPUTUM PASIEN TB PARU
Introduction : Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) that attacks the respiratory tract. The main target of Mtb is the lungs. If left untreated for a long time, Mtb will continue to spread and attack other organs such as the brain, lymph nodes and spine. The incidence of TB in Indonesia is still relatively high with 824,000 cases in 2022, which makes TB disease require special attention. The virulence factor of Mtb enables the pathogen able to adapt to the environment so that it is more difficult to cure. One of the reasons this happens is the role of the DosT gene, which makes Mtb enter the dormant phase in an anaerobic state so that the ability to survive in the body is higher. This study aims to identify the presence of dosT gene in sputum DNA isolates of pulmonary TB patients in Palembang. Method : This study was a descriptive laboratory research with primary sputum samples of pulmonary TB patients in Palembang with a 31 samples obtained from Campus Health Center, Sematang Borang Health Center, Punti Kayu Health Center, Dempo Health Center, Siti Fatimah General Hospital, RSI Siti Khadijah, and Lembaga Kesehatan Cuma-Cuma clinic (LKC). Result : A total of 31 sputum samples were obtained from Kampus Health Center, Sematang Borang Health Center, Punti Kayu Health Center, Dempo Health Center, Siti Fatimah Palembang Hospital, Siti Khadijah Palembang Hospital, and LKC clinic there were 17 positive samples (54.8%) for the dosT gene, and 14 samples (45.2%) did not have the dosT gene. Conclusion : The dosT gene was identified as a virulence factor of TB in Mtb from the sputum of pulmonary TB patients in Palembang.
