Introduction: Head injuries are impairments that result in altered brain function or signs of pathology in the brain due to mechanical stress. This type of injury is the leading cause of death and post-traumatic disorders resulting from vehicle accidents. Palembang city has the 5th highest incidence of head injury in South Sumatra province. CT scans are commonly used to diagnose and evaluate head injuries such as intracranial lesions and fractures. The purpose of this study was to determine the overview of head CT scans in head injury patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang Hospital for the period January 1 - December 31, 2022. Methods: This study is a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design approach. Sample collection using the total sampling method. The total sample obtained was 146 samples that had been determined in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data processed was secondary data. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis. Results: A total of 146 head injury patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital, the majority of whom were male (71.9%), mostly aged 19-59 years (56.2%), mostly had mild head injuries (45.6%), the majority had a lesion picture in the form of epidural hematoma (27.7%), and most had frontal fractures (62.5%). Conclusion: Head injury patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang mostly have CT scan images of epidural hematoma and frontal fracture lesions. This is because epidural hematomas and frontal fractures most often occur due to motor vehicle collisions, physical attacks, or accidental falls. Keywords: Head injury, CT scan, gender, age, Glasgow coma scale, intracranial lesions, calvarial fracture.
