Background: Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a disease characterized by pain in the medial heel due to repeated stress on the fascia. This disease is quite common and it is estimated that up to 15% of adults will experience heel pain. However, data related to the clinical characteristics of plantar fasciitis in Palembang are still small. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the prevalence and frequency distribution of risk factors and clinical characteristics of plantar fasciitis at the Medical Rehabilitation Installation of RS Hermina Palembang. Methods: This research was a descriptive study. The study used primary data obtained from direct interviews of plantar fasciitis patients at the Medical Rehabilitation Installation of RS Hermina Palembang from early November to the end of November 2023 with consecutive sampling method. The data were then analyzed using univariate analysis. Results: Thirty plantar fasciitis patients at the Medical Rehabilitation Installation of Hermina Hospital Palembang were selected as research samples. The prevalence rate of plantar fasciitis was 5%. The majority of PF patients were of productive age (96.7%), female (86.7%), and housewives (43.3%). The highest clinical risk factors in patients with plantaris fasciitis were a history of chronic disease (90%), a level of heavy physical activity (80%), a history of foot trauma (40%), and BMI≥27 (36.7%). Most patients experienced pain in both feet (40%), moderate and severe pain (46.7%), pain located at the hindfoot (56.7%), with the most common clinical symptom being feeling heel pain when palpated. Conclusion: Plantar fasciitis is found mostly in women, of productive age, working as housewives or employees, with history of chronic diseases, heavy levels of physical activity, moderate pain in both feet, located at the hindfoot, frequent pain in the morning and when palpation is done.
