PENGARUH JENIS MINYAK REM TERHADAP LAJU KOROSI PADA HASIL PENGELASAN BAJA SS400
Corrosion is one of the causes of damage to metal materials, including during the welding process, where thinning or reduction of material occurs due to the environment. This research is an experimental study which aims to determine the effect of using brake fluid in the HAZ area of welding results on the corrosion rate of SS400 steel. This research uses a welding process as heat treatment, then fast cooling is carried out using DOT 3, DOT 4, DOT 5.1 brake fluid, and a corrosion rate test is carried out using HCl liquid. From this research, the results showed that the lowest corrosion rate occurred in specimens using DOT 5.1 brake fluid cooling media with a damage percentage of 7.76% and a corrosion rate of 0.0771mpy, then the highest corrosion rate occurred in specimens using air cooling media. or without treatment with a damage percentage of 8.19% and a corrosion rate of 0.0813mpy. The higher the viscosity of the brake fluid, the better it slows down the rate of corrosion compared to untreated specimens.
