PENGARUH KOMPOSISI PACK CARBURIZING DENGAN ARANG KULIT DURIAN TERHADAP NILAI KEKERASAN BAJA ST 41
Effec of Composition of Pack Carburizing with Durian Peel Charcoal on the Hardness Value of St 41 Steel By: Affini Monica Zairoh NIM: 06121182025007 Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program ABSTRACT Pack carburizing is a heat treatment process with the aim of determining the effect of the caralyst composition and durian skin carbon on the hardness value. The catalyst used in this reseacrh is (BaCO3) with a percentage of 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% of the weight pf the carburizing media. The reseach method used is an experimental method where the cementation box contains St 41 steel material and is heated in a furnace at a temperature of 850 ◦ C with a holding time of 120 minutes. Next it will be tested using the vickers test. From the tests, the hardness value obtained for the untreated specimen was 196,424 kgf/mmz the highest hardness value for the packed carburizing specimen was found in the composition variation of 40% catalyst and 60% durian skin carbon, the avearge hardness value was 231,063 kgf/mm2 it can be conclud, that the pack carburizing process with variantions in catalyst composition has an effect on the hardness value. The greater the amount of durian skin carbon and the less catalyst used, the lower the hardness level. Keywords: Pack Carburizing, Catalyst (BaCO3), Durian Peel Charoal
