PENGARUH PROSES QUENCHING TERHADAP LAJU KOROSI DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN MEDIA KOROSIF ASAM SULFAT PADA BAJA ST41
Corrosion is damage to steel that is caused by events that occur nearby and has a detrimental impact, because it reduces the quality and can even damage the steel without being avoided and can only be controlled. This research is an experimental study which aims to determine the rate of corrosion that occurs in ST41 steel which goes through a quenching process and uses a variety of cooling media, namely Coolant Radiator, Rainwater, and SAE 80W-90 Oil as well as one specimen without treatment. After the corrosion test was carried out by immersing the specimen using the corrosive medium sulfuric acid for 10 days, and obtained the results of the sequential corrosion rate from the largest, namely rainwater cooling media of 0.0005326078 mpy, then SAE 80W-90 oil cooling media with a corrosion rate of 0 .0003372599 mpy and the lowest corrosion rate was the radiator coolant cooling media which experienced a corrosion rate of 0.0002636759 mpy. Keyword: Corrosion, quenching, ST41 steel, sulfuric acid.
