Background: Hyperuricemia is describes a condition where serum uric acid levels increase above normal values. Hyperuricemia occurs due to increased production and excretion of uric acid in the kidneys. The first line of treatment for reducing uric acid levels is xanthine oxidase inhibitors, allupurinol and febuxostat. However, many people use traditional medicine derived from natural plants. One of the medicinal plants that is widely used is yellow wood root or Arcangelisia flava. This plant is capable of being antitumor, antidiabetic and antihypertensive because it contains ingredients such as terpenoids and alkaloids. Methods: This research was an in vivo experiment with a randomized prepost-test control group design using male white mice (n=25) with hyperuricemia conditions divided into 5 groups: negative control (Na-CMC), positive control (Allopurinol), and 3 levels The ethanol dose for Arcangelisia flava stems is 100 mg/kgBW, 200 mg/kgBW, and 400 mg/kgBW. Uric acid levels were measured on days 0, 4, and 7 using the uric acid reagent kit, measured using spectrophotometry and uric acid levels calculated manually using a formula. Results: Giving ethanol extract of Arcangelisia flava stems for 7 days can reduce serum uric acid levels in mice. The Anova test obtained a p value = 0.000, meaning there is a significant difference. Based on descriptive and statistical analysis, it was concluded that dose was an effective in reducing uric acid levels. Conclusion: Ethanol extract of yellow wood stem (Arcangelisia flava) can reduce serum uric acid levels in male white Wistar rats with hyperuricemia.
