This research aims to understand the implementation of student participation in the management of waste, the level of student participation in waste management, and the involvement of students in the Adiwiyata program with a focus on student participation in waste management at Adiwiyata High School in Palembang City. The research method used in this study is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques including observation, semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and documentation at six Adiwiyata-awarded high schools in Palembang City. The research data were interpreted and analyzed descriptively. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of student participation, such as the use of waste bins by students, has been executed, but there are still students who do not dispose of waste properly based on its type. Student participation activities in waste management include composting, Friday cleaning, collection, sorting, recycling, and maintaining a healthy canteen. The level of student participation in managing different types of waste in Adiwiyata high schools in Palembang City shows that organic waste management has a 64.8% active category, inorganic waste management has a 71.3% active category, and hazardous waste (B3) management has a 56.3% fairly active category. The Adiwiyata program has encouraged students to become more active and involved in waste management activities at school. This has led to the implementation of waste management activities based on the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) principles. Key words: : Participation, students, waste management, Adiwiyata, Palembang City
