This study aims to: (1) Describe and see the accuracy of the depiction of social problems in Tere Liye's novel Goodbye through mimetic criticism; (2) Describe the quality of Tere Liye's novel Goodbye using mimetic criticism; (3) Describe the implications of research results for literature learning in high school. The theory used in this research is Plato and Aristotle's theory of mimesis. This research uses a qualitative description method. The data for this research is in the form of dialogues and monologues as well as social problem events originating from the novel Selamat Selamat By Tere Liye. The data collection techniques used are library techniques or commonly known as documentation techniques and data analysis techniques using content analysis techniques. Based on the analysis technique carried out, a total of 15 data are divided into 5 problems in the family environment, 3 problems that occur in the community environment, 3 examples of problems that occur in the education/school environment, 4 problems that occur in the world of politics. The results of this research can be used in learning Indonesian at the SMA (High School) level in class XII, 2013 curriculum namely basic competency 3.8 Interpreting the author's view of life in the novel being read.
