Computational thinking ability is a very important ability for students to have in the 21st century. Based on this, research was conducted which aims to see and describe the computational thinking ability possessed by students by testing story questions on systems of two-variable linear equations designed according to computational indicators. thinking and see how the teacher's learning affects students' computational thinking abilities. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this research were 18 students in class VIII.5 of SMP Negeri 46 Palembang with data collection techniques used, namely observation, interviews and written tests which contained four indicators of computational thinking. The results of data analysis from this research were 3 students with high computational thinking abilities, 11 students with moderate computational thinking abilities and 3 students with low computational thinking abilities. Students in the high category succeeded in meeting 4 indicators of computational thinking, students in the medium category succeeded in meeting 3 indicators of computational thinking and students in the low category met 1 indicator of computational thinking. The dominant indicators that emerged were pattern recognition with an average of 39.5, algorithms with an average of 35.8, abstraction with an average of 29.0, and decomposition with an average of 17.3. Apart from that, the learning carried out by teachers is not fully linked to computational thinking indicators, because there are only 2 indicators that appear, namely pattern recognition and algorithms.
