EFEK INHIBISI EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN BENALU KERSEN (Dendrophtoe pentandra (L.) Miq) TERHADAP ENZIM XANTIN OKSIDASE
Background: Indonesia's biodiversity is one of the features of our country. There are many plants with various potentials and benefits, including for health. One plant that can be used as an alternative treatment is the cherry plant. The benefits of the cherry plant are due to the secondary metabolite compounds it contains which can inhibit xanthine oxidase enzyme. Mistletoe can have the same contents as its host, including secondary metabolite compounds, because it can be connected to the host's xylem. Cherry mistletoe is thought to have the same flavonoid, saponin, alkaloid, terpenoid, and tannin as the cherry plant which can act as inhibitors. The aim of the study was to determine the inhibitory effect of an ethanol extract of cherry mistletoe leaves on xanthine oxidase enzyme. Method: This study is pure experimental study. The samples studied cherry mistletoe leaves which extracted with 96% ethanol solvent then carried out phytochemical screening followed by an inhibition test on xanthine oxidase enzyme with allopurinol as a positive control and examined using a spectrophotometer at 400nm. Results: The ethanol extract of cherry mistletoe leaves contains flavonoid, saponin, alkaloid, terpenoid, and tannin. The IC50 value of the ethanol extract of cherry mistletoe leaves is 23,44 ppm (moderate activity). Conclusion: The ethanol extract of cherry mistletoe leaves has an inhibitory effect on the xanthine oxidase enzyme.
