PENGARUH VARIASI KOMPOSISI ARANG TEMPURUNG KELAPA DAN KATALIS (CaCO3) TERHADAP KEKERASAN BAJA ST37 YANG DI CARBURIZING
Pack carburizing is a heat treatment process which is used to harden the surface of steel using carbon as a hardness-increasing element.. This research aims to see changes in hardness in ST 37 steel which was packed carburized at a temperature of 900℃ with a posttest variation of coconut shell charcoal with a calcium carbonate (CaCO3) catalyst totaling 5 specimens. From the results of Vickers hardness testing, the hardness value obtained was that for specimen 1 charcoal 90% catalyst 10% the hardness value was 209.571 Kgf/mm2. In specimen 2 charcoal 80% 20% catalyst, the hardness value was 197.612 Kgf/mm2. In specimen 3 charcoal 70% catalyst 30%, the hardness value was 197.419 Kgf/mm2. In specimen 4 charcoal 60% catalyst 40%, the hardness value was 193.315 Kgf/mm2. specimen 5 or specimen without treatment has a hardness value of 214.231 Kgf/mm2. The highest hardness value in the pack carburizing process was specimen 4. It can be concluded that the addition of charcoal media and decreasing the catalyst affected the hardness of this specimen.
