PENGETAHUAN, SIKAP, DAN PERILAKU SWAMEDIKASI OBAT BEBAS PADA MAHASISWA FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
Background: Over-the-counter drug (OTC) is a medicine that can be purchased freely without a doctor's prescription. Students tend to need medicine that can be accessed quickly and efficiently. Thus, the majority of population who do self-medication is mostly students. Unfortunately, there are still many people who do self-medication without being given sufficient education, so knowledge, attitudes and practice study is conducted to find out the relationship. Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes and practice towards over-the-counter self-medication activities among students. Methods: This research was conducted by using observational research with a cross-sectional approach and samples were taken proportionally. This research used primary data by using a questionnaire that has been went through validity and reliability test. Results: Of the 220 respondents, 178 respondents (80.9%) do self-medication activities. There is an insignificant relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards over-the-counter self-medication activities. Meanwhile, there is a significant relationship between practice and over-the-counter self-medication activities. The dominant variable influences self-medication activity is practice with an Exp (B) value of 2.632. Conclusion: There is an insignificant relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards over-the-counter self-medication activities. Meanwhile, there is a significant relationship between practice and over-the-counter self-medication activities. Practice is the dominant variable influences self-medication activities.
