Background: Physiology is often perceived as a complex and challenging subject to grasp because it requires the integration of knowledge from physics, biochemistry, and molecular biology. The methods of learning play a crucial role in learning outcomes and one of learning method that can be employed is the mnemonic method. Mnemonics is a technique that aids in enhancing memory performance, utilizing various techniques such as acronyms, acrostics, loci, and singing. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the mnemonic method and identify the most effective technique in improving learning outcomes at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sriwijaya. Methods: The type of this research is quasi-experimental. The sample in this study was students of Medical Education program at Sriwijaya University who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Sample selection was carried out through simple random sampling. Results: In this study, the difference in mean scores between pretest and posttest in the control group was 33.63, for the loci technique was 57.09, for the singing technique was 61.38, for the acronym technique was 50, while for acrostic technique was 52.19. In the analysis using the Kruskall-Wallis test, a p-value of 0.000 was obtained (p-value < 0.05), indicating a significant difference in the mean score difference between the control group and the experimental group, with the experimental group showing a higher mean difference. Furthermore, by ANCOVA test, posttest result of experimental group increased without the influence of pretest results. By Post-hoc Bonferroni test, all four mnemonic techniques were found to be equally effective in improving learning outcomes. Conclusion: Mnemonics learning method is more effective in improving student learning outcomes than conventional learning method. Keywords: Learning method, mnemonics, learning outcomes, physiology.
