Introduction: Obesity is characterized by the abnormal accumulation of fat within the body, resulting from an imbalance between the energy intake and expenditure. Obesity elevates the risk of various chronic diseases, necessitating efforts to prevent and treat this condition. Previous research has revealed that Moringa oleifera leaf extract contains polyphenolic compounds with advantageous properties as anti-obesity and antioxidant agents. This research aims to investigate the anti-obesity potential of Moringa oleifera leaf extract in a murine model of obesity induced by a high-fat diet. Method: This research constitutes an experimental analytical study in vivo, featuring three distinct parameters. The assessment of body weight is conducted using a digital scale and examined through a pre-test and post-test with a control group design. Meanwhile, the investigation of organ and fat indices involves measurements on a digital scale and examination through a post-test with a control group design. Thirty male mice are employed as experimental subjects and are distributed into five groups: obesity control, obesity control with orlistat, and treatment groups receiving moringa leaf extract at doses of 4.2 mg/day, 8.4 mg/day, and 12.6 mg/day. All groups undergo obesity induction (Lee > 0.3) for eight weeks preceding the intervention period, during which they are provided with a high-fat diet. Subsequently, the experimental animals receive intervention and a high-fat diet daily in accordance with the group assignment for a duration of 14 days. Results: There was no significant difference in the measurement of lymph, kidney, and fat organ indices in each group. However, the average liver organ index in the positive control group showed a lower level compared to the other groups. Changes in body weight in the positive control group and the treatment group with Moringa oleifera leaf extract at dose I indicated lower averages compared to the other groups. Conclusion: Moringa oleifera leaf extract has the potential for anti-obesity effects leading to a decrease in body weight. Keywords: Moringa oleifera, obesity, body weight, organ index, body adiposity index.
