Background. Cervical cancer is a malignancy that originates from the cervix, namely the lower third of the uterus which is connected to the vagina through the external uterine ostium, with a cylindrical and protruding shape. Cervical cancer and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection are associated with hormonal contraception use. Serum levels of sex steroid hormones increase in long-term hormonal contraception use and also influence the severity of cervical cancer. This study aims to determine the relationship between the duration of hormonal contraception use and the stage of cervical cancer at RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period 2020 – 2022. Methods. This research used observational analytical method with cross-sectional design. The samples were carried out by using consecutive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by noting the results of medical records and then conducting integrated interviews with cervical cancer patients at RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin for the period 2020 – 2022. Results. Based on research from 78 samples, the results of bivariate analysis using the chi-square test showed that there was a relationship between the duration of hormonal contraception (p-value=0.009) and the type of hormonal contraception (p-value=0.020) and the stage of cervical cancer. Meanwhile, parity, education, employment, marital history, smoking history, family history of cancer, age at first marriage, and history of sexually transmitted diseases are not related to cervical cancer stage (p-value>0.05). The results of multivariate analysis with binary logistic regression showed that the duration of hormonal contraceptive use has the strongest influence on the stage of cervical cancer (p-value=0,002). Conclusion. The duration of hormonal contraceptive use and the type of hormonal contraception are related to the stage of cervical cancer. The duration of hormonal contraceptive use is the variable that has the strongest influence on the stage of cervical cancer at RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang for the period 2020 – 2022.
