PROFIL KONSEP ALTERNATIF DI AWAL PEMBELAJARAN PESERTA DIDIK SMP PADA KONSEP RESPIRASI SELULER DI KOTA PALEMBANG
The concept of alternatives refers to ideas that do not align with scientific concepts. This research aims to examine and describe the alternative concepts of junior high school students regarding cellular respiration in the city of Palembang and serves as foundational data for developing diagnostic test instruments. The research method employed is qualitative descriptive and a modification of the method developed by Treagust. The material developed is based on the Campbell biology textbook, with data collection techniques including documentation, interviews, and small group tests. The research results indicate that the highest percentage of alternative concepts held by students is in the topics of aerobic and anaerobic cellular respiration. Meanwhile, the lowest alternative concepts are observed in the topics of cellular respiration processes and the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. It is hoped that the findings of this research can be used to develop diagnostic questions, and educators can create appropriate teaching modules to enhance students' understanding. Keywords : Alternative Concepts, Cellular Respiration, Open-Ended Test
