ANALISIS BATUAN ASAL (PROVENANCE) BATUPASIR DAN IMPLIKASINYA TERHADAP IKLIM PURBA FORMASI PENETA, DESA SLANGO DAN SEKITARNYA, KABUPATEN SAROLANGUN, JAMBI.
The South Sumatra Basin is a basin located in the back arc, which was formed from the interaction between the Sunda Shelf (part of the Asian continental plate) and the Indian Ocean plate. This interaction causes sedimentation of various types of sedimentary rocks, one of which is the Peneta Formation. The Peneta Formation was deposited as a result of the subduction process between the Woyla fragment and West Sumatra which took place intensively during the Cretaceous period, one of which formed clastic sedimentary rocks to sandstone metasediments. The sandstone found in the research area has a fairly wide distribution with varying characteristics both megascopically and petrographically, so that it can determine the provenance of the sandstone. Petrographically, the sandstone found is lithic arenite, lithic arkose and argillaceous sandstone by looking at the content of monoquartz, polyquartz, feldspar and lithic. Based on provenance analysis, it shows that the Peneta sandstone comes from the Recycle Orogen by looking at the total quartz content. However, if we look at the lithic and monoquartz content, the origin of Peneta sandstone is in the Magmatic-Arc, because the proportion of lithic is greater than monoquartz. Thus, based on petrographic analysis, it shows that the original rock has undergone several uplift processes due to tectonic activity, in this case subduction between the Woyla fragment and the West Sumatra Block, precisely at the Subduction Complex Sources which is characterized by an increase in the maturity or stability of the Continental Block Provenances. Apart from that, the sandstone of the Peneta Formation contains quartz and feldspar detritus originating from volcanic and plutonic rocks as a result of residue from granite heights or other volcanic materials that have experienced weathering, which was then transported and deposited to lower areas in the study area.
