The COVID-19 pandemic is officially designated as non-natural national disaster. A spatial assessment of COVID-19 risk is needed to assess risk characteristics based on the likelihood and impact of COVID-19. This study aims to analyse the level of hazard, vulnerability, regional capacity, and risk of COVID-19 in South Sumatra Province spatially. The type of research is descriptive with an ecology study design in 17 districts of South Sumatra Province. Aggregate data were obtained from BPS and the Health Office of South Sumatra Province. The analysis process uses spatial analysis with scoring and weighting methods based on official guidelines and previous research through the QGIS application. The risk level of COVID-19 in this study was calculated through hazard (confirmed cases, suspects, COVID-19 deaths, and recoveries), vulnerability (population density, elderly population, households, shopping centres, poor population, and unemployed labour force), and regional capacity (health workers, health facilities, dose 2 vaccination coverage). The results found that the status of the COVID-19 hazard level in South Sumatra Province was dominated by low levels (94%), with Palembang having a high-level status. The status of the COVID-19 vulnerability level in South Sumatra Province is dominated by low levels (94%), with Palembang having a medium-level status. High regional capacity levels are in the districts of Lahat, OKU Selatan, Empat Lawang, PALI, Palembang and Prabumulih (35%), while other districts have a medium-level status (65%). It was found that the level of risk of COVID-19 was dominated by low status (70%), 4 districts/cities with moderate risk levels and Palembang with high-risk status in South Sumatra Province. It is necessary to publish real-time mapping of the risk and potential of COVID-19, optimise 3T efforts for handling new cases, and increase massive dissemination of information related to vaccination and preventive efforts for COVID-19.
