ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the readiness of the elderly in facing death at Harapan Kita Elderly Social Home Indralaya, Ogan Ilir Regency. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques using interviews and observation methods. The research subjects were nursing home officers and elderly people aged 60 years and over who were able to communicate well. The analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results obtained in this study are the psychological readiness of the elderly in the orphanage in preparing for death is still low because the elderly feel afraid of death, a lot needs to be improved from worship, health, and relationships with others. The results of the study of the four elderly people were only one who had a ready psychological condition, because the elderly considered that every human being must be ready and must prepare themselves. Spiritual readiness in the elderly who live in the orphanage has a good spiritual level because the elderly perform worship activities to God Almighty regularly every day both independently and with other residents of the orphanage such as, performing mandatory prayers, sunnah prayers, reciting the Koran every morning, and participating in routine activities such as yasinan every Friday night. Psychological and spiritual readiness in the elderly in preparing for death can be supported by the intensity of participation in spiritual activities, besides that activities in the form of skills can be carried out to provide productive activities for the elderly.
