KELENGKAPAN PEMBERIAN KAPSUL VITAMIN A PADA BALITA BERDASARKAN REGION DI INDONESIA
Providing vitamin A capsules to children under five years of age can improve immunity and reduce the risk of deaths among children under five years of age due to vitamin A deficiency. The aim of this study was to analyze the completeness of vitamin A capsule administration among under-fives by region in Indonesia and its influencing factors. This study is a quantitative research with cross-sectional design. The study sample size was 80,903 respondents who were women of childbearing age with children aged 6-59 months. Bivariat analysis used binary logistic regression test and multivariate analysis used multiple logistic regression test with prediction model. The proportion of respondents who received complete vitamin A capsules in Indonesia was 52,3%. The proportion of complete vitamin A capsule administration was highest in the Java-Bali region at 57,8% and lowest in the Papua region at 33,5%. Mothers in the Java-Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Sumatra and Maluku Islands regions have a higher chance of providing complete vitamin A capsules compared to mothers in the Papua region. Factors associated with vitamin A capsule completeness varied significantly across regions. Multiple logistic regression test showed that the availability of health centres was the most dominant factor influencing the completeness of vitamin A capsule administration in Sumatera, Java-Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku Islands, and Papua regions while in Nusa Tenggara region, the most dominant factor influencing the completeness of vitamin A capsule administration was mother's education status. This study shows that there are differences in the provision of vitamin A capsules to children under five years of age between regions in Indonesia. The government is expected to pay attention to the equitable distribution of vitamin A capsules throughout Indonesia, especially in Eastern Indonesia
