ABSTRACT Feeding parenting is an important point that plays a role in the process of fulfilling nutrition in toddlers. If the feeding is good, then the toddler will have a low risk of experiencing malnutrition, which can have a direct impact on stunting. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between characteristics of feeding parenting, knowledge, attitudes, and actions of mothers related to parenting patterns of feeding and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Palembang City. Methods: This type of research is descriptive analytic, which also uses observation with a cross-sectional design. Bivariate data analysis using the chi square test and multivariate confounding tests using logistic regression Results of the study: The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between feeding parenting and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Palembang City (p value 0.000; 95% CI: 2.056–10.241). There is a relationship between knowledge (p value 0.047) and a history of infectious diseases (p value 0.020) and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Meanwhile, there was no relationship between the mother's education (p value 0.468), mother's occupation (p value 0.520), gender of the toddler (p value 0.130), parental income (p value 0.060), and mother's attitude (p value 0.091) and the incidence of stunting. The multivariate results showed that the variable that was a significant risk factor for stunting was a history of infectious diseases. Toddlers who received poor parenting had a 6.44 times greater risk of experiencing stunting (95% CI: 2.74–15.46) compared to toddlers who received good parenting, after controlling for the variable history of infection in toddlers. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between feeding parenting style and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Palembang City, and a history of infectious diseases are variables that influence the incidence of stunting. With the results of this research, it is expected that there is a need to increase knowledge, improve attitudes, and habituate behavior, especially for mothers of toddlers, to apply good parenting patterns and protect their children from infectious diseases. Keywords: knowledge, attitudes, skills, parenting patterns, feeding, stunting
