The non-ergonomic work postures among UMKM grilled kemplang workers is a primary concern regarding the risk of occupational health issues. Ergonomic chairs are designed to control the risks of ergonomic hazards for workers in the grilled kemplang industry in the Meranjat Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. This research aims to determine the suitability of the designed ergonomic chair prototype for grilled kemplang workers in the Meranjat Village, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra, in terms of ergonomic aspects. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with observation, indepth interviews, and documentation. The number of informants is 10 grilled kemplang workers. The results show that there is a discrepancy in the design and size of the ergonomic chair prototype and the customized workstations for workers based on ergonomic aspects such as MSDs, work posture, work comfort, and work productivity. Therefore, improvements were made to the design of the chairs and grilled kemplang workstations. The proposed design for ergonomic chairs includes a height of 35 cm, an outer seat width of 55 cm, an inner seat width of 50 cm, a seat length of 40 cm, a backrest height of 55 cm with an inclination of 100º, elimination of the left armrest and modification of the right armrest into a small table for hitting kemplang with dimensions of 20 cm height, 57 cm length, and 25 cm width. As for the ergonomic workstation, it includes a grill with a height of 45 cm, an iron mesh table above the grill with a height of 95 cm, a length of 70 cm, a bottom width of 40 cm, and a surface width of 50 cm. The kemplang clamp should be 30 cm or more, and an addition of electric fan use. In conclusion, the existing prototype of ergonomic chairs and workstations still do not meet ergonomic aspects. The proposed design and size of ergonomic chairs and workstations are expected to enchance the previous design to improving the work postures of grilled kemplang workers.
