PENGARUH VARIASI SUHU PROSES QUENCHING SODIUM CHLORIDE TERHADAP UJI KEKERASAN PADA BAJA KARBON SEDANG
Medium carbon steel has a carbon content of about 0.42% to 0.60%. In use, carbon steel is being used as a component of automobile axles, crankshafts, boiler rails. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature variations on the hardness of medium carbon steel. The method used in this research is the experimental method. Specimens are heated using a heating furnace with a temperature of 700°C, 800°C, 900°C. then quenching using sodium chloride solution, then the hardness level of the specimen was tested using vikers with a load of 30 kgf. And a long press of 15 seconds and three test points. The highest hardness results, obtained on specimens with a temperature variation of 900°C with a value of 1,017.73 kgf/〖mm〗^2, and the lowest hardness value was obtained at a temperature variation of 700°C with a value of 253.23 kgf/〖mm〗^2.
