Balanced nutrition is a key factor in ensuring people's health and well-being. However, challenges related to nutrition are still a major issue at various levels of society. The problems of overnutrition and undernutrition are influenced by diet and physical activity. An unbalanced diet, lack of consumption of vegetables and fruits, frequent consumption of fried foods and low physical activity and infrequent exercise will have an impact on nutritional problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of diet and physical activity based on the nutritional status of Sriwijaya University boarding students. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The main informants and supporting informants were 14 people each, and the expert informants were 2 nutrition lecturers. Data were processed by transcribing interview notes, FGD results and notes on field findings. The results showed that most informants had an irregular diet, characterized by some informants skipping breakfast and dinner. In addition, some informants liked eating fried foods. Meanwhile, most informants have low physical activity. This is characterized by most informants only going to college and rarely exercising. In addition, there are informants with normal nutrition, while some informants have undernutrition problems and some informants are overnourished. A comparison of dietary patterns in over and undernourished informants is found in the frequency of eating. Overnourished informants eat more often and more frequently than undernourished informants. But for physical activity informants tend to be the same and there is no significant difference. Advice given to students to pay more attention to diet and increase physical activity.
