Exclusive breastfeeding for infants is important to support optimal growth, the hormone that plays a role in the metabolism and growth of infants is IGF-1 in breast milk. nutritional status of the mother is one of the determining factors of breast milk content including IGF-1 levels. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of nutritional status on breast milk Insulin Like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) levels in breastfeeding mothers in Musi Rawas Regency. This study is a quantitative study with a Cross-Sectional approach. The sample of this study were 60 breastfeeding mothers of children aged 0-24 months. Data collection was done by interviewing characteristics, 3x24 hour recall and breast milk sampling. Data analysis used was univariate, bivariate with Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney alternative tests, and multivariate test with linear regression. The results of the univariate test showed that 32 respondents (53.3%) had more nutritional status. The results of the bivariate test showed there was a significant difference in the average IGF-1 levels of breast milk (p=0.007) with nutritional status. Multivariate test results show there is an effect of nutritional status on IGF-1 levels (p=0.005) with a positive direction (B = 806). It can be concluded that, there is an influence of nutritional status on breast milk IGF-1 levels. Mothers with more nutrition without hyperinsulimia tend to have higher IGF-1. It is recommended for the community to prepare optimal nutritional status from before pregnancy, in order to avoid the risk of overnutrition during pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding in infants.
