High blood pressure is a type of chronic non-communicable disease, with a very high prevalence rate in the elderly. It is estimated that the number of people with high blood pressure in the elderly will continue to increase, namely 32.5% in 2022. One of the risk factors for high blood pressure is diet. Therefore it is necessary to do research on the relationship between diet and high blood pressure in the elderly in Sungai Pinang Village, Muara Lakitan District, Musi Rawas Regency. The research method uses observational with cross sectional research design. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling, as many as 80 samples. The results showed that 76.3% of respondents had high blood pressure, 68.8% had a good diet, 60% of the elderly were the majority, 96.3% of the elderly had a perception of stress in the normal category and 58.8% of the elderly were in the non-diagnosed category. smoker. It was concluded that there was a significant relationship between diet and high blood pressure after controlling for age, perceived stress and smoking history. Suggestions in this study are for people with high blood pressure to always control their blood pressure by consuming foods such as cucumbers, potatoes, tofu, tempeh and green vegetables because these foods are good for people with high blood pressure and avoid the factors that cause high blood pressure.
