There are still toddlers in Palembang with low height and are at risk of experiencing stunting. From many risk factors that affect the linear growth of toddlers, exposure to cigarette smoke is one of them because of the toxic effect of oxidants in cigarette smoke inhibits nutrient uptake. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) exposure in the neighboring on the height of children age under five in Palembang. This research is using quantitative analytic study with cross-sectional design approach by conducting interviews with 111 mothers in Ilir Timur III sub-district, Seberang Ulu II sub-district, and Kertapati sub-district which selected by purposive random sampling. The data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate with chi-square test, and multivariate with multiple logistic regression tests risk factor models. The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between mother's knowledge level (p-value 0.005), birth weight (p-value 0.000), daily nutritional intake (p-value 0.001) with toddler's height. On the other hand, there is no relationship between exposure to ETS (Exposure to Cigarette Smoke) (pvalue 0.410), Physical Quality of Clean Water (p-value 1.000), Sewerage (p-value 0.555), Mother's Educational Level (p-value 0.153), and History Exclusive breastfeeding (p-value 0.241) with toddler's height. The results of multivariate analysis showed that there wasn’t a significant relationship between ETS exposure around the house and toddler's height after controlled by mother's education level, level of knowledge, and daily nutritional intake (PR adjusted 1.916). The conclusion from this study is that exposure to cigarette smoke will affect toddlers' height if there are other risk factors that also expose toddlers simultaneously. It is recommended to increase mother’s knowledge regarding stunting and the provision of good nutrition for toddlers.
