PENGARUH KONSENTRASI EKSTRAK KAYU MANIS (CINNAMOMUM BURMANNII) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS PADA SOFT LINER
Background: Short-term soft liners (tissue conditioners) are temporary soft lining materials that use coating as an alternative for rehabilitating mucosal trauma. During clinical use, they can lead to plaque accumulation and the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, Thus, there is necessity for alternative natural denture cleaners agent, such as cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii), which has antibacterial properties. Aim: To evaluate the effect of concentrations of cinnamon extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus in soft liner materials. Method: Twenty five soft liner samples (10 x 10 x 2 mm) were divided into 5 immersion groups: group 1 sodium hypochlorite immersions; group 2 cinnamon extract 1,5% immersions; group 3 cinnamon extract 2% immersions; group 4 cinnamon extract 2,7% immersions; and group 5 aquadest immersions. The total amount of Staphylococcus aureus colonies were counted with colony counter. Data were analyzed using One-way ANOVA and Hoc Games-Howell test. Results: There was a significant difference observed among all groups (p
