Background: New cases of skin malignancy have been increasing every year for the past decade. The latest data regarding new cases of skin cancers are needed as the first step in preventing and reducing the number of new skin cancer cases. the purpose of this research was to determine the incidence and characteristics of skin cancer patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang for the 2019 – 2021 period. Methods: This research was a descriptive observational study with cross-sectional design using the total sampling method. The data was obtained from the medical records of patients with skin cancer at RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in January 2019 – December 2021. Results: The incidence and characteristics of skin cancer patients at RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin was 38 patients. Skin cancer type with the highest incidence was basal cell carcinoma in 17 patients (44.74%). Most of the patients were in the age range of 45-64 years (52.6%), were housewives (42.1%), were female (65.8%), had completed high school (44.7%), were married (89.5%) %), and live outside Palembang City (55.3%). Most of the cancers were diagnosed at stage I (44.7%) and were found in the head and neck region (76.3%). Conclusion: The incidence of skin cancer has increased and decreased during 2019 – 2021. Skin cancer tends to be diagnosed at an early stage and was found in the head and neck. Keywords: Incidence Rate, Characteristic, Skin Cancer
